Moorage at Port Desire

Protected moorage with a public boat launch, kayak staging, and trailer parking. Space is limited — book your overall boat length, bowsprit to stern gear.

Bamfield sits at the end of the road. Drive in, sail the inlet, or fly low over the sound — pick your adventure below and watch the route draw itself.

Port Alberni → Bamfield 90 km · about 1 hr 40 min

It is highly recommended to take this route regardless of your starting point — whether you're coming from Victoria, Duncan, Sooke, or anywhere else on the island. Fully chip-sealed and well maintained all the way in.
  • Fill up in Port Alberni — it is truly the last gas stop before Bamfield.
  • Yellow km markers count you down the whole way.
  • Logging trucks have right of way — keep lights on and slow for one-lane bridges.
